Kemi makes Thatcher seem almost human! She is devoid of everything that I would find decent in a person. Kindness, compassion, empathy, integrity, humility, honesty, accountability and, without a doubt, self awareness.
Her arrogant, ignorant manner is quite breathtaking to behold if I’m honest. I cannot stand the woman.
Jenrick is just ridiculous.
You’re right though, the Tory party of old is no more and we need a decent opposition to Labour because I can’t even begin to think about what would happen if Fartage ……nope, I can’t even say it!! 😩
The Conservatives lost my support when the returning Ukip party members rejoirned my local association and sacked our sitting MP Dominic Grieves and replaced him with a Johnson sycophant. I have since re-examined my views and will not be going back to them. The current lot have proved to be incompetent on nearly all fronts and have entered a ridiculous competition to be the most horrible to immigrants in need of our help. The current leader is a Brexiteer who would take us further down the slippery slope to impoverishment. The reform party is worse so it is going to be a difficult few years.
But I might actually widen my requirement beyond the Conservative party.
It is my contention we need ALL of our politicians to be better.
Even those that have the right ideas and say the right things, still need to do better. They need to be better at communicating and effecting their sensible ideas for governance and stop being suppressed by whichever monied elite are pulling the strings this week.
Parliament is simply not working as it should currently.
Minority ideas and representation is given far too much credence and the whiff of corruption still pervades across all parties.
Spot on analysis of the once real opposition party to a Labour government. I don't know why all of them don't join Reform - both appear to me to be cheeks of the same far right arse! How ever did the Conservative party choose such losers as their leader and shadowy cabinet? They need to get themselves some middle of the road MPs - the likenesses of people like May, Major and Heseltine. Memorable types if a little dowdy. Better than the current nasty, aggressive ones bordering on fascism .
‘Pevish, punitive and perpetually affronted’ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩🤩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Perfection! Pugnacious is the only adjective that I could add. You write so brilliantly, dear Bear.
A great read. It's so refreshing to read a left-leaning post about the Tories which is nuanced and well thought out and not simply a rant about how awful they are.
Of course the rot set in when Johnson threw out all the real statesmen. I never liked the Tories but I recognised the ones with integrity. Currently they couldn't rustle up a statesman between them and nor could Reform.
Badenoch is making an arse of herself almost daily, whilst yesterday our actual government in power directed the Metropolitan Police to arrest 500 protesters. Many of them retired, disabled including one guy who is partially sighted or blind and another on a mobility scooter.
Bear dear chap we need politics to be better. There seems to be a collective madness abroad amongst much of the political class. A disease of the mind or brain.
The carriers spreading it are far right proponents and pedlars of idolatry in the media and think tanks.
Personally I think the Tory party has run its course and is now in a death rattle. Labour are in trouble and since whatever the polling says Reform are going to be hard pressed to maintain their lead.
What comes next? Well perhaps those protesters yesterday might give a clue.

Indeed Mr. Bear, we need better.

Thank you Bear
At the moment it feels like there is no proper Opposition party (I don't count Reform)
The trouble is Kemi Badenoch is utterly clueless and devoid of any compassion, empathy and understanding, Robert Jenrick is no better
Right now, I wonder if there is real leader amongst them

I had hope in Corbyn who seemed to care about the many but then he was outmanoeuvred for awful Starmer to serve the few.
I would have replied here, but comments were closed initially ...

Thank you Bear, a very fair assessment of the current state of the clueless shambles that passes for the modern Tory party.
We don't need the BlueTories the RedTories have replaced them
