Good for you. I ditched Twitter a couple of months ago and my mental health is so much better for it. No one needs a daily dose of toxic sewage straight to the brain. I’m now choosing to seek out reasonable discourse elsewhere.
I left Twitter - deleted both personal and business accounts - I am pleased it lead me to virtually meet you! I did not want to give Musk any of my time or attention or allow his hellscape to affect me! Have a great Monday Bear!
“I’m going to try it - and it already feels like a lung full of crisp, cold autumn air after a room filled with smoke.”
Exactly what I failed to say to you yesterday lol 😂 This is why you are so good at this! Nailed it ..in one..that feeling of freshness and overwhelming relief away from the cesspit of hatred! I’m sure it’s improved my mood several times over since I left. Who needs it! Musk can do one! 🤣👌
There are still some people on there I like to read, but I have also decided to remove myself from the 💩. Thanks for helping me to stop "thinking about it" and actually doing it Bear!👍
I am leaving too - not for the same reason as you - i can’t log in to Twitter on my new device as I have forgotten my password and the email address I used to set up my account doesn’t exist anymore. It’s a nasty place now, and I get a full update from my husband who enjoys dismantling the arguments of the right wingers.
We dropped a cheeky little graphic in your honour on our repost. Cooked it up ages ago, kept it in the fridge like leftover curry , and reheated it, just now!
Expect to see it plastered everywhere from WhatsApp aunties to Westminster interns.
I don’t go to Twitter (I refuse to call it X) or Bluesky* anymore but have kept the accounts for history and messages.
On the odd occasion I've gone into Twitter to retrieve something, I've been stunned by how awful it's become. You'd wonder what these people are like in real life, but you don't want to think of it too long.
*I know Bluesky is supposed to be where all decent people go, but I found it bit too smug and uncompromising for me - the part I saw anyway. (I suffer from this weird affliction - I can have conversations with people I don't 100% agree with without losing my cool.)
Anyway, I hope you find life improves as a Twitter-free experience.
I left X some time ago. It was getting bad even before him but there were attempts to police it. Afterwards, all the nasty people were allowed back, and the torrent of sh*t resumed unchecked.
Every account that leaves is one less for the algorithm to screw with, and another little bite out of the income propping it up.
I ditched the sewer shortly after Musk walked in, when it became apparent to me that I was seeing an increasing volume of utter shite, pushed and amplified by the system which had once shown me stuff I would want to see.
It has often been the case - more so recently- that I refrained from supportive comments on Twitter because I didn't want to get involved in the negative side. You'll be much better out of there.

I love this for you Bear and leaving it behind will work out just fine.

Welcome to a more peaceful place!
Well done Bear for quitting X - and getting it off your chest! Leaving that poisonous evil platform must make you feel so relieved.

Big hugs from Willy and Bill
Came off after the US election result in November….
You’ll feel like an ex smoker tasting food and drink again without the regular weed that you didn’t really need,
Well done your bearship

deleted my account a few months ago after procrastinating for quite a while, have not missed it one jot
You will be missed, but, I think you've made the right decision.
I'll be staying for now, simply because my profile is too infinitesimally small to register for any abuse or vile logarithm led rabbit hole nonsense.
I stay, I watch, I rarely engage.
It's there as my barometer of the hideous depths to which society has plunged in the last decade. Little more.
As my writing and engagement with wider society grows, as it most definitely will in future, that decision may change.
In the meantime I continue to dribble expectantly for the next drop of "Bear Honey" to be written/dropped on this far more civil platform.
Power to your elbow Mr. Bear. (Bear's do have elbows don't they?)
you're braver than me!
There's no bravery when my presence on the platform garners very little scrutiny or engagement.
But thank you for your kind words.
Good job, Mr Bear.

It might not be much, but we do what we can.
