An incredibly short post today, because the news can be shared without much interpretation:
MAGA suffered a death knell last night.

The Trumpian Republicans have had a defeat so large that they do not appear to know where to look. I have just watched Trumplethinskin babble on incoherently about his fucking ballroom and not once make even the slightest mention of the loss that has just happened.
Ron DeSantis appears to be breaking ranks by describing the results as an “extinction level event.” JD Vance seems to have mustered something that appears almost spine-like in admitting that people did not like the war in Iran and there are MAGA panic tears that are currently spreading across the airwaves.
I had a quiet hope that the results would turn out well. That there would be a flip in the House, and possibly even the senate. What I did not expect was these results:
The House of Representatives: Democrats have retaken control, picking up more than two dozen Republican-held districts, including constituencies Trump won comfortably in 2024.
The Senate: Democrats have flipped at least seven seats, taking control of a chamber that looked extraordinarily difficult to win just a few months ago.
Texas: James Talarico has defeated Republican Ken Paxton. Yes, Texas. A state Trump won comfortably in 2024 has elected a Democratic senator.
Kansas: Adam Hamilton has defeated incumbent Republican Roger Marshall, delivering Kansas its first Democratic senator since 1932.
South Carolina: Annie Andrews has won a Senate seat for the Democrats, something the state hasn’t done since 1998.
Iowa: Josh Turek has defeated Republican Ashley Hinson, delivering another extraordinary Democratic victory.
Ohio: Sherrod Brown has returned to the Senate, defeating Republican incumbent Jon Husted.
North Carolina: Former governor Roy Cooper has won the Senate seat, another significant Democratic gain.
Maine: Susan Collins has lost her seat to Democrat Troy Jackson.
This goes so well beyond a narrow rejection of a handful of poor Republican candidates and is an outright repudiation of the entire Trump administration. It’s a complete rejection of his economic policies, the war in Iran and the increasingly unhinged fucking pantomime that the US government has become.
This, of course, comes off the back of the Brazilian turnaround last month which handed Bolsonaro Junior his arse and the fall of the far-right incumbent government in Serbia.
There are implications for our politics in the UK here as well. Reform has been in free-fall for going on a year now with a third of their poll lead being eaten away by scandal after scandal. Farage’s close relationship with Donald Trump will bear its fruit in the fullness of time, and the hope is that the people of our country reject him as roundly as they have the far-right demagogue that is now, for all intents and purposes, just squatting in the White House.
I could go on about the pitfalls that the Democrats now face. How there still needs to be a reckoning on their behalf on their approach to the more progressive wing of the party. How they simply cannot waste the next two years while they hold significant power to constrain Trump and his cronies and to finally bring some much needed accountability back into US politics.
But I’m not going to do that in this post.
Because this is a win worth celebrating, and even though I do not have a glass of champagne on me right now, I raise a toast to the friends across the Atlantic who finally stood their ground and said, loudly and clearly:
Enough is enough. Fuck you very much, Donald J. Trump.
To my American readers, enjoy your celebrations tonight. And to my European readers, take heart. The far right can be beaten.
Best,
Bear

Exactly.
The only thing missing from your post was an ending that went something like “Thank you for your attention to this matter” 😂😂😂
I was working with an American today and their joy was wonderful to behold. They were registered in Texas and got their postal vote in early. But I don't think they ever imagined the results in Texas and across the USA would be that dramatic.
