Afternoon all,
It’s been another helluva week in politics, misinformation and just the general madness that has been 2026 so far (honestly, it seriously feels like we’re about 63 days into the month).
So what better way of stepping away from the pandemonium than with a 45 minute debunk session with Emma Monk and me in this week’s episode of Bear and Monk Debunk!
This is our third outing, and we’re tackling two familiar but stubborn bits of nonsense. I’ll be digging into the constant swirl of misinformation around our capital city, London - why it persists, who keeps pushing it, and why it refuses to die despite the data and lived experience of millions of people. Emma then takes us through one of the most pernicious and damaging rumours currently doing the rounds: claims that Islam is calling for dog bans.
At all.
We’ve really appreciated the feedback everyone has shared on episodes one and two (linked below), and we’d love you to keep it coming - what’s working, what isn’t, and what you’d like us to take on next.
A few people have also asked whether Bear and Monk Debunk will be coming to the usual podcast platforms. The answer is yes - that’s very much the plan. While we’re still in our testing and fine-tuning phase, Substack will be the place to find us, but we’ll be reviewing distribution over the next month or so.
As promised, I mentioned in two particular resources in this episode - Bellingcat and Crime Rate - which you can find on the below buttons:
Also, a huge thank you to everyone who donated through the Bear and Monk Debunk Ko-Fi link last week - we appreciate your vote of confidence immensely! Donations are never expected, but always appreciated - and if you would like to chip in, the link is below:
We’re also very happy to hear from everyone on subjects that you would be really keen on us discussing, so you can leave suggestions in the comments or contact us by DM on here and wherever else we have accounts.
Thank you again for listening, supporting and commenting - and on that note, enjoy the show, and have a lovely week ahead.
Best,
Bear
