In the very first episode of Bear and Monk Debunk, Emma Monk and The Bear, will be discussing two of the biggest stories of this week.
Emma will kick the episode off discussing the recent shooting of Renee Nicole Good - a poet and mother of three - by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents (I.C.E) in Minneapolis that has sparked widespread protests in the United States and how Federal Communication is actively shaping a misleading narrative.
In the second part of this Episode, The Bear will dive into the swirling misconceptions around headlines about the UK government and the recent discussions of potential action against X under the Online Safety Act that could mean restricting or even banning the service. We’ll go into what the law actually allows, where the growing free speech panic is coming from and why treating regulation as censorship completely misses the mark.
We would both greatly appreciate any feedback from all of you on how you found our first episode - what worked for you? What didn’t? What you want more of? Or if anything may have confused you.
This is just the start of what we hope will be much more Bear and Monk Debunk, and we look forward to hearing from everyone!
