Thank you Bear, glad your fur daemon is doing well. I will absorb what you have written, as always, tired at the moment mainly because of the latest Starmer shit show over ordinary people venerating Jewish deaths. Speechless now having been trying to get the truth out, like many others, but want to really think about the sense of what you’re saying. Good Sunday. 😄
First, and most importantly, glad the fur daemon is doing ok.
Yes, the exhaustion is enough to floor even the most robust of us. Had the £5m been given to a Labour MP the BBC news and the right wing press would have had it as their lead story for at least a week. Instead it gets barely a peep from the media. Then they report that the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is considering an investigation. FFS, CONSIDERING?!?! It should be a full-blown investigation. I'm frustrated as well as exhausted! If only Farage had settled for a pair of glasses, a suit and a couple of football tickets eh?
Exactly how I feel Bear. Exhausted, worried, scared and deflated. What will people do in local elections? So many just won't vote. which could let the wrong ones into local councils 🙈. Hoping you are coping ok and that your fur demon is recovering well. Happy Bank Holiday weekend xx
As always Bear you hit the nail firmly on the head many of us are feeling collectively exhausted!!! Glad your fur daemon is much recovered similar situation with our 28yr old horse yesterday also uninsurable not looking forward to the vets bill ...
Pleased your fur daemon is ruling the roost again Bear, and thank you for another summary of the state we've let ourselves sleepwalk into. I sometimes despair, but then I see the many people who do stand up and challenge the 'establishment', the far right, the rotteness in our political arena. I attended the May Day event in Newcastle yesterday and it was heartwarming and inspiring to see so many good people gathered to oppose it all, and the determination to keep doing so. Sadly afterwards some of us still felt the need to go the counter gathering at the asylum seeker hotel where every week the dregs of the far right (a convicted paedophile, an abuser and neglecter of her own children, women beaters, and all manner of low lives) are allowed to gather to shout anti social and vulgar abuse, threaten and occasionally use violence against us. It spoiled the previous friendly hopeful event, but there are always more of us against the Farage/Yaxley Lennon etc lot(though even more would be great) so giving up is never considered for long. Your take and writings Bear add to the inspiration and determination.
And now the awful Kuensberg has just started, and we're told Farage has "decided not to come" as scheduled. Could it be he's scared sh*tless because Zac Polanski is on too?! More reasons to be cheerful.
I read an article by Heather Delaney Reese in the States yesterday, where she said pretty much the same as you. It's not accidental; it's planned, deliberate, intentional. I'm glad your baby is recovering. Have a restful Sunday!
You describe us & other like minded, moderate, inclusive but tired people we know. We don’t watch the news, limit our on line reading of the events going on around us & move off to do something mundane to try & dull the ‘ffs’ feeling rising in our chests. It’s not apathy, on my part at least, but a protective action at feeling helpless.
Pleased your furry friend is on the mend & taking his rightful position on all the softest places to survey his kingdom & subjects.
Thank you, that's a really fine read. I just don't know how this country is going to find decent, reasonably honest and competent politicians for the future. We have Fagash, the politician prostitute trying bring the country down to the most abysmal level, Kemi the kazi, who really is one of the most stupid and ignorant people ever to get into HoC.
A great observation Bear, but the elephant in the room is, it depends on who you are/which party you represent. When details of Angela Rayners stamp duty tax affairs became public, it was front page news for days on end. When Starmer was gifted a pair of glasses, suits and some Arsenal tickets, it was front page news and Farage was apoplectic, demanding he should resign immediately. So it’s not so much about rotten politics and more about which party are being rotten. Now I’m off for a coffee and a rant on social media 🥺
So glad the fur daemon is better now. They are family and it’s awful when they are poorly.
I totally agree Bear with your thoughts above . I get exhausted just trying to keep up with everything happening in the UK news. Which, in my opinion, is very biased. You never know what is fake news. It’s also not helped by Trump and his actions which change daily and affects the whole world.
I think Reform's strategy must be to persist in being so completely awful that people become numb to it, give up bothering to object, and just accept it all as normal.
A small break does one good - you can see that in your prose. Glad the kitty is doing better and that you can afford to feed the industrial veterinary complex’s children.
The less said about the sorry state of our political environment and its people, the better. I live in a mixture of denial and anxiety since the day everyone started believing anything they were told by the wolves amongst us.
Dear Bear, good morning. The constellation works. The machine is too effective at keeping everyone so outraged, confused and exhausted they switch off. Except for those who support this right wing mayhem. Sadly they’ll be the ones who vote. Exactly what they want, complete apathy. Winning formula. Best wishes.
Yes, I so recognise this. Turn the page because it all looks so familiar. How much outrage can I summon today? It's corrosive.

And the worst of it is, with many of these scandals/outrages/wrong-doings, etc nothing seems to happen 🤷🏻♀️

Yup, Nige is learning from Trump again.

Hope your fur demon is getting better.
'Flooding the Zone' works perfectly in these internet times. The Taoists called it The Ten Thousand Things; inflation makes it The Ten Trillion.

Take care. All the best, John.
