That Sky investigation was excellent, should be beamed onto every TV in the land for an entire day.

All MPs from progressive parties (Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP, Plaid Cymru) need to get off X now.

Musk needs to be brought under control.

Easier said than done.

I left Twitter a while ago and really don’t miss it except for the annoyance that it’s always included in sharing options and I like to spread the news far and wide.

Got a bit miserable here recently as there were quite a few people commenting that needed blocking and I spent a disproportionate amount of time trying to reason with them.

I had felt quite cozy here initially!

Had a chat with my son recently who finds himself similarly afflicted and he’s now using an AI app to argue for him! Apparently it’s very intelligent and says what he wants to say in the blink of an eye!

Life is too short for trolls and if you are a genuine snowflake like me it preys on your mind for hours, even days after.

It feels like the temperature is too high, the violence, the foulness of hatred, the misinformation both in the wars and the social media sphere.

I think it’s linked.

Anyhoo..thanks, mate!

'Among the Trolls' by Mariana Spring is an excellent book with a concise exposition of the seditious nature of algorithms.

You absolutely nailed the nail here. My feed was continuously swamped with every imaginable goon and far right loon; especially a woman called 'June' filling up the screen with her head, no doubt covering the unexpected appearance of nursing staff! I gave up, but not after responding with a photo of the cat licking herself (including a rear leg in fully erect salute)!

Thanks again Bear fr your considered comment detailing the threat that the Katamine Kreep poses to democracy. He is very dangerous and I hope our government realises Musk is out to shape/ steer our political landscape to resemble his American Dream. We still have time to stop him but I fear as usual the government will try and close the door after the Musk has bolted

Another quality post! I can remember when you first surfaced on Twitter and your posts were more a mix of observations and reports on the fur demon. Great to see how far you've travelled since then. I do miss the reports on the fur demon though.

I think it's happening on Amazon too. My latest 'for you' list consisted of loony anti=vax and climate-denial publications.

they are also hyperactive on loval neighbourhood sites,

posts should be about local concerns, find plumbers, lost & found as laid down in conditions of use.

Instead there are several posters spreading tRumpy hatred, then complaining of victimisation when moderators take appropriate action.

It's scary. Lots of scary, think i'm getting paranoid. eg prisoners erroneous release I find it difficult to believe that politicians & civil service can inadvertently release prisoners this way. They are not that stupid, coincidence maybe, but I get v suspicious about convenient coincidences

Where though should we go? I agree that X/Twitter can be absolutely horrid and the Sky investigation confirms my suspicions as well, but Threads was useless when I tried it and Bluesky is somewhat better, but still not very effective for British politics.
