You may be kind enough to say that not every Reform voter hates women, but I will. They want to take us back to a time when women were utterly dependant on them, barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen.
As ever 🐻 a powerful piece. This so clearly shows the Reform culture towards women in all its patronising ways and shows just how misogynistic they really are. Bravo to Carol Vorderman for refusing to sit back and take the crap they so regularly try to dish out to her. All women should refuse to accept the reform view of women and their rights. Reform wants to take us back to a time when women had no voice and were expected to defer to men, a time when all people were dehumanised because of their sex, their religion or the colour of their skin. A time when the working class were expected to know their place and be happy with their lot, whilst the rich decided what was best for them. Sadly, a significant amount of people are signing up to that by supporting Reform and believing the rubbish that Farage and his company spout. Reform are anti woke for a reason, they don’t want us to wake up and smell the crap they speak because when we do, we see just how self serving they really are. They are not interested in making anything better for anyone but themselves.
Thanks for taking the time to expose this UK wide Unionist and Conservative homoerotic violent misogynistic status quo. Perhaps it is finally possible to invest the politically enabled sexist connected dots across UK’s ruling class landscape, its historical timeline and hidden places of enablement.
Farage’s political alignment with alt white sexist whit supremacists like the Northern Irish Democratic Unionist Party are, post hard Brexit, common knowledge. The ex leader of that party, leading from 2021-4, has just been found, together with his wife, guilty of paedophilia and sex crimes. The fact that Donaldson was politically groomed from age 14 by a hero of Farage, Enoch Powell, is not unrelated to these crimes as is they have taken place over decades, in plain sight, with no local policing or criminal investigation. Donaldson originally an Ulster Unionist, later joined the Rev. Ian Paisley’s cultish DUP party. A Troubles era party established with financial funding from London in 1971, just 2 years into the UK state’s experimental counterinsurgency military Operation Banner (1969-2007) in Northern Ireland. The atrocities committed against children by UK political ruling class VIPS and local unionist Troubles ‘assets’ during this counterinsurgency operation has now been much written about. These truths indicate a normalisation of sexualised violence and power abuses within and across London based Conservative Unionist politics over a long period of time. As such, the violent sexism Reform candidates and voters indulge is, for too many, simply seen by as normal adult behaviour.
Violent sexism is a deep seated depravity indulged in by many across much of the British ruling class which will take more than the occasional locking up low hanging fruit child rapists like Donaldson to excise from UK society.
A brilliant analysis that manages to be angry without losing the ability to be thoughtful. As you say, women don't need a man to tell them about misogyny, but I don't think that's what you were doing. I think you were, essentially, telling a bunch of men that need to be told. Yes, I know it's not the first time anyone has done this, and unfortunately it won't be the last: I'm afraid history shows they keep on needing to be told. But it's especially important that men do it.
Yay for you (((Bear))) ❤️🐻 Yay for Carol Vorderman 🎊 And Yay for the women of Makerfield 🥳 Actually, while I'm here, not really saying very much, Yay for Andy Burnham too! 🎉 Xx ps Although, also profoundly deep sigh... NF, DT, how many more vile, abusive, obnoxious, lying, self-interested, bullying leaders and potential leaders, can our poor, beautiful, damaged planet take... 😔
May I suggest that many women will recognise Kenyon and his ilk. They are their fathers, brothers, uncles, boyfriends, partners, husbands and they will be intimate with the consequences of those values translated into action.
Treated in different ways, sexualised and abused, subject to raised voices and hands.
So when a woman like Carol Vorderman who is intelligent, articulate and very able stands up to be counted it makes a difference. Particulate as the back story of her life includes overcoming many personal difficulties.
There is a move to demote and denigrate women. Return them to their proper place.
In spite of the cacophony produced by the right wing press it may prove more difficult than they think.
Well said Bear. You've hit the nail firmly on the head yet again. It's very troubling that the sexist behaviour I experienced as as young woman in the 70s, 80s & 90s is resurgent with the rise of populist parties like Reform & scary that they would emulate Trump's assault on women's rights if they ever get anywhere near government.
Well said. It seems that there are some males (they're not men), who still haven't entered the 20th century with regard to their views on us women. I don't care whether it's down the pub banter, or a so called "joke" or whatever, it was insulting, it was misogynistic and downright vile.
I admit I haven't always been a fan of Ms Vorderman. There was a period where she was fronting some IMO dodgy tv ads that made me think a lot less of her. One was for some sort of supplement - krill or something. Whatever it was, I thought it was probably best left to be eaten by whales or other sea life. The other was for debt consolidation & clearly traded on people knowing how good at maths she is, to lend the product legitimacy. I think this period was a misstep.
However, I haven't seen anything like that lately & what I have seen of her, I have very much liked.
She was brilliant in this moment you recount here.
Thank you Bear, you put this very well. Reform really don't believe women have rights, they think women are there to be subordinate to men, but women do have rights, they shouldn't have to put up with appalling remarks or feel unsafe
As a woman, I feel very anxious about Reform attitudes towards us
I sent a comment to the BBC objecting to Kenton’s description of what he said about CV. It was censored on the basis that I employed sexual language; - ‘oral anal sex’ to describe what he was talking about which seemed to me preferable to his own words. The BBC’s instinct seems to have been to protect Reform.
I read Gawain Towler's substack on why they have a problem attracting women voters, he is clueless, they seem to have no awareness that their anti abortion politicians ( their head of policy James Orr wants a near total ban) is a complete turn off amongst their other issues. When you look at their events it seems to be the party for middle aged blokes and pensioners.
Such a great expose of those little inadequate 'men' who are unable to connect with or deal with women because of their fear and need to try to make us look and feel even smaller than they are.
You may be kind enough to say that not every Reform voter hates women, but I will. They want to take us back to a time when women were utterly dependant on them, barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen.
They will be in for a rude awakening.

Abso-fucking-lutely. Well done, Bear, another good read. :)
A brilliant ‘rant’ They need exposure everyday and men need to read this

Reform's candidate for Makerfield said women can't give directions, they did on voting day!
Hi Bear.
May I suggest that many women will recognise Kenyon and his ilk. They are their fathers, brothers, uncles, boyfriends, partners, husbands and they will be intimate with the consequences of those values translated into action.

Absolutely!

Overturned potted plant, like it!
