Oh Bear. I'm so sorry. No matter how much you know it's coming, it's still hard. Don't feel guilty about feeling relieved - that comes from love, relief that he is no longer struggling, not from selfishness. Your community is here for you.
Oh bear- words mean little at times like this but rest assured your people here will be with you in spirit over the coming days. So pleased you have the support of a partner who sounds just what you will need. Love
Oh Bear, we've all come to know you so well through your writing, and we all stand with you in this first moment of grief - there will be many more. But you're not alone. You have a loving husband, family, and friends to stand beside you. Losing a parent is hard for many reasons; it's an unexpected moment of growing-up amidst loss and sadness. Take the time you need; we'll wait for you.
Dear Bear, losing a parent adds a dimension to how one feels about life. Sorry for your loss. On a different note your description of your day as it unfolded made me think that you should write a novel. Best wishes.
Oh darling Bear 🐻 I'm so, so sorry. No matter how long you've known what the outcome will be, it's still always a huge shock to the system. Please be kind to yourself, listen to your body, cry when you need to. And please send our love to your dear mum and sister. They must be devastated. I've lost both my darling parents and also both of my adult children, so I really do understand. Much love ❤️ and many tight hugs to you and your lovely husband. Take as much time away as you need, and for goodness sake don't give us a second thought. This is a time to focus on you and your family. Love you so much ❤️❤️🐻. Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx🫂🫂🫂🫂
I don't have the words, Bear. Except thank you for an exceptionally vulnerable and honest window into your life a very sad time and I'm very sorry for your loss. Look after yourself and do whatever you need to do.
Death is a funny old thing - we shouldn’t really be discombobulated when it comes close but somehow it kinda wrong foots most of us. ( there’s not really much about it in the in the Owner’s Manuel.)
Your dad’s passing was a long and difficult one by the sounds of it, especially for your mum. Good that you can be with her, she’ll need your big bear arms around her. Grieving will pass and memories to be shared will remain. I wish you and your family well.
No matter how prepared you think you are, there's always a dad or mum shaped hole in your heart when you lose a parent
Even 8 years after my Dad died, entirely expected of copd, I find myself wishing we'd had more time, that I hadn't scolded him near the end for trying to refuse to go to hospital, that the Dad my kids adored hadn't slipped gradually away over 5 years so we all lost him painfully bit by bit.
I hope that the happy memories will fill that void and carry you all through the sad days ahead until the sun breaks through again and the happiness you shared as a family growing up becomes the overriding emotion.
Meanwhile make time to grieve both individually, with your family and with your husband.
My very sincere condolences. It’s hard losing a parent, no matter what their age or yours, and it always comes as a shock even though it may have been expected. I hope on your trip to SA you find comfort and solace with your family.

Agreed, it was such a clear, poignant and with a slight witty undertone piece that I can't believe the circumstances in which it's been written.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending big bear hugs xx
Holding you and yours in my thoughts, Bear.
