The more the right wing vote splits, the more the corners of my mouth rise - long may it continue!
I am of course wary of the knuckle dragging support, who are pledging (and dredging) locally for the Reform(atory) party at the suddenly upcoming local elections. Have a great day Bear!
So now we have three far right parties, Reform, Advance UK and Restore Britain. With any luck this bunch will tear each other to pieces and become completely irrelevant by 2029. Maybe then the far right media (and I include the bbc in this) will start doing their job again and document this implosion
Oh, how I indeed hope this occurs.🙏between the, hypocritical stuff with these reprobates.. is beyond anyone decent person..there's so much wrong in our world momentarily..the only restore we need is to move on & everyone, including the bbc need to support SKS & restoration will fix itself..no mention yet.. again from BBC about the good work Labour have done so far...& will continue to do so..if the money backers didn't interfere..BTW why does fr/ garage think he's PM already?
All that he needs now is Liz Truss as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Tommy Robinson as Foreign Secretary and Jenkins as Home Secretary and he can mirror his leaders in the Oval Office and Kremlin. That would guarantee an evangelical sinking ship of the UK.
I don't have your eloquence so I'll just say, I view Farage and Lowe as a pair of particularly rancid turds, vying to get through the trap into the sewer first.
Nice to hear. But Farage stepped back in 2019, allowing Johnson to retain power. Harder to pull off that trick when there are three or four parties involved, I know, but I wouldn't feel complacent.
The shift towards Christian Fundamentalism along American lines has been an interesting one, not least because of the backlash unleashed by attempts by Tenconi and Robinson to co-opt Christian beliefs in the same way as the England flag. Overall, it looks like efforts to give a veneer of respectability to politicians and movements that have generally been held in disdain, part of the overall 'right-washing' process that paints right-wingers as the victims and left-wingers as the extremists.
In the run up to Christmas, Robinson made a great song and dance about his "Christmas Carol Concert". Since then, he has slowly dropped this line of attack. Quite possibly because every time he posted about his alleged faith, he was ratioed by critics quoting Bible verses that highlighted his hypocrisy, lack of understanding of the Christian Gospel, and the position the Bible generally takes on such individuals.
Of course his latest wheeze is to claim that he is now the subject of a Fatwa and has had to flee the country again. He's shared a recording of an alleged phone call from his local constabulary, claiming to have 'intelligence' suggesting he may be at risk from physical attack. It may be true. Then again, surely most adherents of Islam have more sense than to martyr a man more likely to harm himself and his cause simply by opening his mouth.
Tenconi appears to have maintained this claim to a resurgent faith, even in the face of similar criticisms. He can still be seen parading around high streets with cross-carrying supporters. That said, his support is lower than Starmer's at the moment, so I don't think many people are paying attention to anything he's saying or doing.
It has been curious that Reform and Farage have been rather less enthusiastic to rush to join this fad. Other than Pochin and one or two of the more fringe top-tier figures of Reform having a half-hearted stab, its been left alone. Perhaps it is because Farage saw the response other efforts drew. Perhaps it was because he knew full well that it would garner an instant rebuttal far more vigorous than that faced by Robinson. Perhaps (and perhaps most likely) he just couldn't be ar**d. We may never know, and probably don't care all that much.
So recruiting Orr does seem like a curious choice, considering his own ambivalence and the backlash fellow travellers faced trying to clothe themselves in Christian garb. However, it does fit in neatly with his generally hostility to equality. It also aligns with Braverman's rapid declaration following her appointment as Reform "Shadow (but not really, because Reform aren't the official opposition, no matter how many Tories they coopt) Minister for Schools, Education and Equality" that the first thing she would do in office is drop 'Equality' from her title. Shortly after that, she would ensure any legislation that even smacked of equality was purged from the statute books.
It wouldn't be too surprising that Farage and Reform shift from ambivalence about equality rights to outright hostility on a par with Trump's. He's certainly not hidden his disdain for DEI, despite every council Reform has taken over finding very quickly that few, if any, employed any staff simply for that issue. It also ties in neatly with his contempt for the ECHR. That being less about the fact that it has 'Europe' in its name and more with the constraints it imposes on business, industry and government. Again, this is in keeping with Trump's contempt for the US constitution.
The only glimpse of light in recent weeks from Reform has been the growing recognition that they really are the lunatic fringe of the Conservative Party (which is saying something considering how batsh** crazy the Tories have become). Jenrick and Braverman are starting to look like the straw that might have broken the camels back, particularly in light of Farage's comments about Jenrick over the years. Not to mention, of course, that most of the those who buggered Britain over the last decade are now Reform politicians.
I hope you're right. But the more Starmer screws up, the more some people will just go for Reform because it's more visible, regardless of the messaging.
Like most here who take the time to comment, I relish the thought of the fools tearing themselves apart. My deep concerns however remain. We appear now to have simply added three more political entities not to trust, not to believe in, not to hold out hope for.
Bear that, bless you, is no solution. We know we have a problem of reducing credibility in UK politics and we know how we've been painted into the corner of future darkness and despair. What, dear hairy one, are people's viable choices? Who are the 'least worst' alternative in this current shower of shite we entrust our futures to? Perhaps it's time to apply your 'shit in the woods' instincts to shining a little light on what could be as well as continuing to ensure the liars and cheats are called out on a regular basis?
A very good read, tempted to say sunny uplands, but best not to.
Mr Farage Ltd announcing his (sic) shadow cabinet the other day had him at his most ubermench, only he is qualified to answer questions as the newly appointed vegetables mumbled praise(?), joy(?) or just disappointment at their powerless new status.
I guess Mr Farage Ltd will become more shrill, more one man band as the need for organisational structure is accommodated to promote the 'fit to govern' narrative, but we know it's a load of cobblers. Mr Farage Ltd knows best.
So Farage/Lowe - Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact? Much better to just jump to 22nd June 1941 and, as you indicated, keep them punching lumps out of each other and perhaps to the seranade of I'm An Imsomniac for light relief.
I sincerely hope you are right in this and they tear each other apart. My fear is that, from my personal experience, you can tell Reform voters exactly what Reform will do for them (i.e., nothing good); you can show them where to find the evidence to back up what you've said so they can make their own minds up; but they won't bother to look, and they'll still vote Reform. Most of them won't have even noticed James Orr joining, or if they did, they don't know anything about him and won't even think to do any research – to them it's just someone else joining the party, which is a good thing, in their eyes.
Orr and Kruger terrify me its obvious they will start chipping away at reproductive rights. Reform MPS already voted for restrictions in June 2025 and their female MP said that we need a roll back on the time limit.
What an absolute pair of self centred gobshites Farage and Lowe are.
They share the trait of capitalising on their public school accents and no nothing ignorance to present their rancid views with a confidence that has no base in reality.
And fear not, their real goal has nothing to do with getting into power.
That heaven forbid would burst their bubble in moments.
Their purpose is to always be the centre of attention. To keep the Rubles rolling in and the news cameras and studio interviews lined up. To seem like important men.
It is and always will be all about them and sod the rest of us.
The more the right wing vote splits, the more the corners of my mouth rise - long may it continue!

Because the media and gbeebies pander to the far right
Clearly they’re creating the ultimate swamp to compete with the swamp across the pond.
Their in cahoots.
Robert Jenrick has been named by Frogface as the future CoE. Think on that and tremble.
Jokes apart..you're not completely wrong here..if that being.. had his way..it's getting through to those who still can't see it ..regrettably.
I don't have your eloquence so I'll just say, I view Farage and Lowe as a pair of particularly rancid turds, vying to get through the trap into the sewer first.

Farage has f'd up with the local elections reversal. Let's see how the GE pans out after 3 years of Reform in local government.
I do see signs of the files beginning to affect perception of Farage and this is more welcome news. Thanks Bear.
I hope you're right. But the more Starmer screws up, the more some people will just go for Reform because it's more visible, regardless of the messaging.
And the antidote to this poison is?

Do you think Farage saw a need for Orr, or has he been foisted on Nigel by his (more astute) US handlers and funders?
Afternoon Bear.
