Given that my water bill has quadrupled in just 3 years and I don't dare take my dog swimming in either the conveniently local river or the almost equally close by sea that is a really tall pile of shite to beat but you could well be right.
Unfortunately when the overwhelming emotion is anger and feelings of being ignored then that will never discourage Reform voters . A smoking gun of such magnitude will only do . Labour failed from the very outset day one in office to notice that they were part of the problem not just the solution . The majority of the electorate saw and sees labour as the establishment the duopoly . The same old same old . Starmer’s agenda of incrementalism would never do coupled with his lack of ideology and wooden persona . People are still desperate for meaningful change , boldness , freshness and energy . Farage is as crooked as a two Bob note , brittle when scrutinised and has a messiah complex . But die hard Reform voters don’t care .
Only getting out the vote on a large scale will do . I am angry with labour on many levels and issues but I’ll be voting for them this week . If you can’t vote for someone then vote against someone else . It softens the blow .
Underlying this is the constant dehumanisation of people who are migrating to the uk. Now it’s a punishment to live near the same places as they do. The news is full of descriptions of peoples immigration status, ignoring that all the anti immigration rhetoric is doubtless what fuels anger on both sides. How can we know the warnings from history and even see them replicated but remain unable to stop it?
The fact this insane, evil idea even occurred to them clearly shows they have the full Trumpist mentality of politics. Their idea of democracy is that people who vote for other parties are the enemy, not citizens to be governed on an equal basis. Trump depicts himself dumping manure on Democrats, Reform threatens migrant detention centres (telling in that they regard these as the worst thing you can inflict on people). An election campaign is inevitably combative, but if you win and become a government you are obliged to treat everyone the same, you don't prioritise your supporters over your opponents. To do so is pure gangster politics, as amply demonstrated by mob boss Trump.
A distraction indeed, straight from the Orange Mussolini's book of them! ICE with that? 🤔😱🙈 Tactical voting needed yet again Bear to keep these idiots away from our local councils. Labour are so disappointing but may get my vote if it keeps these dangerous clowns out of office xx
Morning Bear. As well as all the other moral and political reasons why this is a stupid piece of gangster theatre there are also practical reasons why it would become a problem for Reform.
So build facilities, if you can against protesters. Then try and run the things when protest is happening and actively trying to disrupt or close them.
All of course in areas with a ready supply of local opponents.
Watching Twitter, although there are lots of pro-reform posts getting pushed by the algorithm there are even more anti responses... some of them quite entertaining.
I'm hoping RefUK's failure to get activists out on the ground will result in a bit of a damp squib on Thursday.
I'm no lawyer but I'm 95% sure that what Reform is proposing is illegal under UK electoral law ... but then again, the Reform2025 Ltd company has never let such pesky matters get in the way of their six-form debating policy announcements have they.
First time I read about it I thought it was a joke. Surely this is something that the Electoral Commission would have an issue with? I sounds really dodgy and threatening.
This amount of shir makes the water companies look good. I despair.

Thanks for the cogent analysis. Hope your new job is going well.

Malicious and stupid.
Farage and his acolytes in a summary.
Thank you Bear
Farage, Tice, Reform always avoid scrutiny and it's wrong

I’m exhausted too. It difficult just getting up each morning and facing each new day.
Obviously not shir - but I think you know what I intended to say :-)

It.
