Morning all,
This is not a politics post today, but more of an adminny one and it’s something I’m quite keen to do just once a year or so - and considering the last one was in September last year, I am a bit overdue.
The purpose of me asking the below ten questions is really just to make sure that when I’m angrily tapping away and flooding your inbox with my verbose stream of thought you’re actually enjoying it and not opening your emails with a big old sigh and saying “oh, God, the Bear has another bee in his bonnet.”
The other reason that it is quite important is that Bearly Politics is in a very different place from where it was when it started. I’ve had the pleasure of hosting other writers, including Mark Braund, Claire Jones, Brown Reporter and Sacha Coward. We’ve gone from just about 2,300 readers in June 2025 to well over 8,500 now. I am immensely proud of what I’ve managed to achieve over the past 15 months or so, and this is all down to you as a community.
So just a huge, massive thank you for that.
Paid subscriptions help me cover some of the basic costs of running Bearly Politics, and go towards me being able to one day do this full time. In the past, they have also helped with care costs during my father’s long illness, and went a long way to covering funeral costs, flight costs and so on when he passed away. Long term, though, the goal is to invest in Bearly Politics to make it a better, more useful publication.
If you are a paid subscriber, I can’t thank you enough for your support, especially given just how expensive life is right now. I know that £3.99 a month / £40 a year could easily go to more worthwhile causes, so I am incredibly humbled that you choose to spend it on my writing.
This exercise is of course entirely optional, and you are more than welcome to delete this particular request.
As a reminder, I do run on the basis of a soft paywall. All posts are free at publication, and will remain free in your inbox, with the paywall going up on the online post after seven days. I do also offer complimentary subscriptions to anyone who is:
Claiming any sort of Universal Credit
A pensioner
A student
A journalist
Having a hard time financially.
All you have to do is send me an email to iratusursusmajor@gmail.com. If you have previously sent one and it looks like I haven’t responded, my apologies for this, my spam filter is particularly overenthusiastic.
Survey Questions
And, lastly: if you could change one thing about Bearly Politics over the next year, what would it be?
Let me know in the comments.
If you have taken the time to click through to the questions, thank you very much - I really appreciate it.
Wishing everyone a fabulous week,
All the best,
Bear

I'd like more time to read them, but that's on me, not you.
I like the humour and the swearing.
