Well, slap my backside and call me Bernard - the (not so) silent auction for the proof copy of Bear Necessities of Politics and Power is officially wrapped up, and the results?
Let’s just say, I’m absolutely floored (in the best way possible).
The winning bid came in from the fabulous @LeifH, who swooped in just twelve minutes before the bidding closed with an incredible £225.
But hold onto your best Fascinators of Elation because that’s only where the story starts. The people below didn’t just show incredible grace in their defeat at the hands of the gavel - they went way above and beyond by donating their bids directly to @Shelter.
@dani69165556 donated a massive £220.
@HirundoRustical chipped in £50.
@sarahflyme generously gave her £100 bid too.
That brings our total raised for Shelter to a staggering £595!
Honestly, my fainting sofa is threadbare from the number of times I’ve collapsed onto it today.
The kindness and generosity that everyone has shown is genuinely humbling. This money will go to Shelter, supporting their vital work helping those without a safe place to call home - something that’s especially critical when it’s 2°C outside, and no one should be left out in that cold.
A massive thank you to everyone who shared, tweeted, and amplified the auction. I want to give special shout-outs to @BestForBritain, @Mukhtar, @SkiptomyLouLou, @garygilligan, @frances39676801, @greenjennyjones, @nicclesb, and so many more who helped spread the word far and wide. And of course, an extra-large hug to @JackJanglebones, who kicked off this wild adventure - I owe you a drink (or five).
Shelter’s work is more important than ever as we enter the colder months. They’re running the #FightForHome campaign right now, and I encourage everyone to check it out and support this crucial cause. Every bit of support makes a world of difference. You can learn more about it here:
And finally, for anyone who missed the auction but still wants to get involved, pre-orders for Bear Necessities are still live! You can grab your copy right here.
Once again, thank you all, from the bottom of my very warm, slightly overwhelmed heart.
You've made a real difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Oh wow, well done you and those lovely supporters who donated to a wonderful cause.
