I don't remember where I saw this because it was literally decades ago, (possibly Private Eye), but it was something to the effect that being released on police bail is sort of code for 'we don't think anything is going to stick but we don't want to admit it yet'. It's a vague memory & I am very much not a lawyer, so *insert shrug*. But so far it really does feel like this is going to turn out to be not the plot they're looking for.

My absolute favourite piece of speculation about this (because it makes the most sense) is that these boys were just diesel thieves. That would certainly explain them getting bail.
Since the men were being investigated for possible terrorist offences, the police could have held them without bail or charge for up to 14 days. The obvious inference from their early release on bail in a case like this is that the police suspect the men are guilty of nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I have to say that, since apparently the incident started because a farmer called the police because, driving home from a party at about 1:30 in the morning, she some men dressed in black, and some wearing balaclavas, behaving suspiciously, and since Fairford only about 40 miles from the village of Piddington, scene of anti-asylum protests, I can't help but wonder if the suspects aren't, in fact, something to do with Danny Thomas' anti-asylum protesters.
I will laugh like a drain if that proves to be the case.
I note that the delectable Allison Pearson has used it to promote her pet project. She’s comparing her childminder and mum’s remand for posting something unpleasant on SM with the bail for the 5 men on terrorist charges. And, as she has a blue tick, getting paid for it too.

Why would they be 'probably of a brown hue'? The Palestine Action thugs who broke onto a military base to vandalise a plane were white skinned British nationals.
But they weren't being set up as part of a false flag operation, where people are intended to think they are Iranian, or are working for the Iranians.
